Privacy, Dignity and Respect
All care staff respect residents’ privacy. They will knock on their doors before entering. Staff will respect their privacy when receiving visitors and telephone calls. Staff will carry out duties with respect for the resident and ensure that their dignity is retained.
Care Plans
The Care Co-ordinator will discuss with the resident and/or appointed relative, the care needs required before their arrival to the home. This will be reviewed and discussed with the resident/relative on a regular basis. However, care staff will continue to ask the resident their preferences whilst catering to their needs. Staff will notify the Care Co-ordinator of any changes or preferences within the resident’s individual care reports, and care plans will be updated accordingly.
Consultation regarding the operation of the home
All residents are encouraged to be involved in many aspects of the home, such as menu choices, activities etc. This is achieved with informal discussions at mealtimes or at residents meetings. The Activity Co-ordinator regularly holds residents meetings which are recorded and displayed on the Activity notice board in the reception.
A confidential ‘Quality Assurance’ questionnaire is distributed once a year to each resident/relative for their views and opinions of the home such as staff, environment, activities and meals.
